While we do understand life can be busy, cancelations are highly discouraged during the course of treatment. If you need to cancel due to a foreseeable matter, we encourage you to let your therapist know as soon as possible. For illnesses, last minute matters, or emergencies, we understand and will not bill for such absences. However, if a session is rescheduled after any cancelation and this appointment is missed, the card on file will be charged for the second missed appointment. To protect against this chain of broken appointments, we will not automatically reschedule appointments. The client’s parent or guardian speak with the clinician and reschedule a new appointment together.
While therapy has not exact or set limits, We highly recommend our clients commit to one year of DBT. This includes both weekly individual sessions, phone coaching, and two complete rounds of DBT skills group, which helps in the comprehensive learning and generalization of the DBT skills which aid in symptom reduction/elimination. Skills group is once a week and requires a parent to join.
We welcome back participants to skills group when they’d like to “brush up on their skills” for one to two rounds of group as needed.
Those who graduated from two rounds of skills group can keep their individual therapist and discontinue skills group.

While it is possible to do skills group with our clients alone, empirical evidence and clinical observations show that skills group with both parents and their children promotes the greatest positive change in the children’s wellbeing. When parents learn the same skills that their children learn, they can support their child’s learning of said skills. DBT skills also help parents manage their own emotions in a more effective manner and have shown to help them engage more effectively with their children.
