Those who graduated from two rounds of skills group can keep their individual therapist and discontinue skills group.

We will never end therapy with a client struggling to manage their symptoms no matter how many cycles of treatment they have gone through.

While it is possible to do skills group with our clients alone, empirical evidence and clinical observations show that skills group with both parents and their children promotes the greatest positive change in the children’s wellbeing. When parents learn the same skills that their children learn, they can support their child’s learning of said skills. DBT skills also help parents manage their own emotions in a more effective manner and have shown to help them engage more effectively with their children. Basically, it helps you have a better relationship with your kids. Everyone benefits from skills group and DBT.
